More non-running

Events like the Swim Like Hell 5k are one of many reasons I love Portland. This event is put on by the Salmon Nation and is run in empathy of the struggle of the Pacific Salmon. The route follows Salmon St (naturally) from the Willamette River to the Mt Tabor Reservoir. This isn't your normal 5k, but includes obstacle that mirror the obstacles the salmon face when swimming upriver. For instance, at the drought obstacle, runners must drink a glass of warm water and at the turbine obstacle, they must spin around ten times with their forehead on a bat before they can continue. And of course there are a few nets and dams to get by. I didn't attend but Marc headed over to give it a run.

Marc gave it his all at the finish, but came up second.

I'll definitely check it out next year. It looks like a lot of fun and it's free! I've informed Marc if he keeps entering running events he's going to have to start his own blog if he wants the world to read about it. I think he's about ready to admit he might be a runner. It's easy - "Hi, my name is Marc and I'm a runner."

Sarah,
That sounds like a lot of fun. I don't know if I could run after spinning around 10 times - I get dizzy really easy. I don't think Marc can deny it anymore. Anyone who nonchalantly steps into a 50 mile run on the morning of, and finishes, cannot deny the label. He is a runner, he just has to admit it!

I agree with Michelle...Marc's a runner...after PCT, he can't escape it.

What a cool race and clever idea!! Make that stuff feel real. Very clever.

Very Portland...just like the pine I got last year at the Marathon and is still growing in our back yard!!!

Sounds like a cool race and for a good cause as well.

I will definitely be down for Portland and Autumn Leaves. I bet Michelle will come as well.

That does look like fun. It's certainly a PR that would stand alone among 5K PR's. And yes, I do believe Marc is a runner. He doesn't have to be a blogger but he is a runner. Funny guy.

You guys crack me up:) AA meetings (oops, I mean LDR meetings) are coming so close, you need a sitter for Little Guy!

yes, yes, he's a runner, I mean, if I can call myself a runner, then he DEFINITELY qualifies. ;-)

more non-running? Are you still under the weather or just taking a break?
