Change of season

No, the leaves aren't changing color yet. But I did wear my reflector vest this morning for the first time. The mornings are getting darker. Not pitch dark yet, but dark enough now when I start out that it seems prudent to be more visible to the cars out there.

Knock wood, my hip feels much, much better. I ran 4 miles on Tuesday with some mild pain. Tuesday was also yoga day at lunchtime and I think that has been a key element in my healing formula. I started out the class really tight, but ended loose and refreshed. More foam rolling Tuesday evening helped eliminate any lingering stiffness and by bedtime I was feeling good. I told myself that I'd get up early this morning and if I felt no pain going down the stairs, I'd go for a run. Otherwise I'd just do some more strength training. Woke up this morning, felt good so went out for another 4 mile run. No pain! I was aware of my hip the whole time. But if it hadn't been hurting previously I probably wouldn't have noticed it.

Fingers crossed, I think I'm on my way back, and so glad for it! I hope to get in a longer trail run this weekend. The past few weeks have been difficult, especially when reading about other cool races (like Where's Waldo!) and wondering when I'd be able to join in too. I've tried to be patient and not stress to much about upcoming races. The Virgo in me likes to make little rules for myself. One is that all runs be at least 6 miles. But sometimes rules are made to be broken and I'm proud of myself for not sticking to this arbitrary rule and cutting back as needed. That said, I'm looking forward to a 6 mile run tomorrow!

Knock wood!
Fingers crossed!

So glad to hear the hip is feeling better! Have fun on your 6 tomorrow - I bet it will feel great to be back out there again, and feeling more comfortable with your body and your mileage.

That's great news Sarah! I'm not a Virgo, but I make rules too. Others sometimes call it a little nuts. One rule is no walking on the hills of the hill run. If the timer goes off to walk, I have to crest the hill first. Another is I have to run to this crack in the road in my neighborhood "the finish line". Anyway, hope it continues to go well and feel good!

glad to hear you're feeling better! I'm a virgo too (when's your bday?), and am all about the little rules (my current one has been 20 during the week and 20 on the weekend). Definitely, though, when your well being is at stake (and maybe even when it's not) it's good to break the rules sometime. Glad you're taking care of yourself
