Nothing like a little mud

Nothing like a little mud to break in some new shoes. I bought these shoes last summer during a sale. Truthfully, I wasn't planning on buying anything that day. I was with Marc who needed some running shoes. But I saw these in the closeout pile...just one pair left...in exactly my size. Since they are the trail version of my road shoe of choice, I thought it was worth 40 bucks to give them a try

Today Sharon and I went out for 10 miles in Forest Park. We didn't want to think too much so decided to just do an easy out and back on Leif from the Germantown Road trailhead. It was a crisp fall morning with just a hint of fog. The leaves are off the trees, but haven't yet been trampled to a gray mush on the ground. So there were still some pretty colors around.

I think I've convinced Sharon to run the 50k. Just for the record, there was never any doubt that I was going to sign up for the 50k. I read on the race website that they'll give credit for the 25k to 50k runners who need to drop out after the first loop. So I think that will convince Sharon to give it a try. I helped turn her into a half-marathoner and then a marathoner. So why not now an ultramarathoner?

Seems reasonable to me.

Glad to see your back in the groove, running thru the mud is so much fun! I own a pair of Adrenline's too, how did you like them? WTG...that's the great thing about multi-ditance races!

I miss Forest Park and I miss the trails. I hope your friend gives in to your peer pressure.

Those shoes look like some kind of fun...I didn't get muddy today, but I did get squishy-shoe wet. That was some kind of fun too!

No!!!!!!!!! Don't drop after the first loop! As John Bandur told me at Capital Peak last year the fun really starts on the second loop. He was right. After all, he has run over 300 ultra's. He should know if anybody does.

The trail will just get silly muddy. You just have to laugh when your shoes are like giant frisbees of mud. Sticky, shoe sucking mud. Really, you might just run out of them on the North end. It is crazy some years. You just have to laugh.

Remember it only gets really fun on the second lap!

have fun, tom

Sounds reasonable to me. This past Saturday I picked up some discount trail shoes so I too have some breaking in to do. Fun.

I love how runners take such pride in mud on their shoes.

i love muddy trails! it's great that you're back on the bandwagon. i feel like you do in regards to wanting to convert every runner to an ultrarunner. i managed a couple to this day. it's awesome!

Defintely reasonable...

Just like breaking a new pair of shoes with a 10 mile run is perfectly reasonable.

People named Sarah are always reasonable. :-)
