Blueberry corn muffins

If I can't go out on a trail run on a beautiful, sunny, late winter weekend, baking is the next best thing. That and working in the garden. While Marc was at work today, the little guy and I started the garden prep, rearranged a few beds and pulled some weeds that are already showing their ugly faces. I'm determined to get ahead of the dandelions this year!

On the exercise front, I completed 5.5 hours of cardio cross training (in addition to some yoga and strength training), mainly on the elliptical and pool running. I usually count miles instead of time in my weekly running log, but looking back I've noted that in January I ran 7-8 hours a week. So less cardio for sure, but 5.5 doesn't seem that far off. On Thursday, I went to my chiropractor for a second opinion and received some heartening, good news, including a definitive treatment plan. But it will still take time. I'd like to think that Pac Rim is still a possibility and it may be. But I've also discovered that trying to mentally fit my recovery into a ever shortening length of time is stressing me out. And maybe even hampering my recovery if I try to do too much too soon. So mentally, I may just let it go. But we'll see. : )

mmm...great food pictures on here lately :)

Really nice job on the 5+ hours of cardio. I find it a lot harder to do equivalent cardio hours when I'm not running, and that is a substantial amount! It sounds like you're taking a really healthy additude towards recovery. I'm feeling you on the struggle to be smart about it. Glad there sounds like there is a treatment plan!

5.5 hours of cardio is pretty impressive to me. I remember how tough it was to get that much cardio in the last time I was injured. I hope the recovery progresses quickly and you are able to get back at it quickly and safely.

Don't play with recovery, don't be like me, be what I say to be! :) Very impressed with that much cardio, esp. with pool running! Now hit that stair-master to add...

Wow, good job on cross training Sarah! Don't let Pac Rim stress you out. You've already registered, so just go along with your recovery plan and make the final decision a few days before. If all is good, go for it, if not, bag it. (Hah! I sound so confident, but I know I'd be dithering about it like crazy!)

You could always save yourself the back ache, let the dandelions grow, and make dandelion wine! Actually, I'm not sure if that's real wine or not, but it is in Ray Bradbury's novel!

You are doing so much right Sarah. From my experience, the "letting go" might also be good in the short run.

I zapped over to look at your "running ahead" entries (boy, I like that site!!) and you are really regular!! Day after day...good for you.

You are going to be back soon enough...be patient...and I just wish you could post the actual muffin on the blog too!!!

The muffins look yummy!

I tried pool running and never really got the hang of it. I'm inspired by you, though. I like how you adapt your training log so you can still track your progress.

The Sarahs will run again soon!
