Good-bye 2007...hello 2008

I topped off my 2007 running mileage with an early morning 6 mile run. Total for the year: 1925 (actually 1924.79, but I'm unabashedly rounding up!). Surprisingly, my highest month was March with 191, a month in which I had no races. And as expected, my lowest month was 116 in August, when I was on the sick/injured list. My average weekly mileage was 37 miles per week. I ran one 8k, four marathons, one 28.8 race, four 50k's and one 50 miler. Of my 12 lifetime marathons, I ran my three fastest marathons this year. And best of all, I met many, many new friends this year. Some I have yet to meet in person, but I think that's only a matter of time. 2007 was a year of positives and highs for me. Even when I couldn't run the PCT Mt. Hood 50 as my first 50, I was able to experience it through Marc as he ran his first 50 miler. I could do more of a recap, but that's what my blog is for...it's already here!

On to 2008! My plan is to run all of the Oregon Trail Ultra series if possible. (McKenzie River is always a maybe because of the tight application timeline.) I'd like to try my first timed race at the Pacific Rim One Day in March. And maybe, just maybe, I'll try a 100 this year. I'm thinking Javelina because of the timing and location (and I like loops). But if it doesn't happen this year I'm okay with that. My goal in everything is to try my best and always run with smile. If not on my face, at least in my heart and soul.

Happy New Year!

Sounds like you had a great year, and you definitely have a great attitude. I am especially impressed with the fact that you ran your 3 fastest marathons this year. That's awesome!
Also, for ultra runners, it's legal to round up by 1/2 a mile, standard. You don't even have to tell anyone you did it. ;)

That's hilarious about the rounding up. Do you not think that you legitimately ran those extra steps running for the phone, the timer on the stove, or whatever? You're only "rounding up" in the sense of rounding up all those extra steps and counting them in - exactly where they should be. ;-)

May 2008 be fabulous for you!

nice race schedule. i already know of a couple of people doing javalina this year. put your "running" legs on if you do it. tons of "running" in that 100. have fun.
