Getting my mojo back

Ever since I got sick in July and then injured in August, I've been struggling to regain my spark. Timberline wasn't just a physical test, but a mental one too. After Timberline, I think my mojo's back!

Sunday I slept in and wasn't planning on going out for a run. But despite feeling sore, I was bursting with energy. I needed to run! So Sunday evening I snuck in a 3 mile recovery run, which also brought my mileage up above 40 mpw for the first time since early July. This week I'm back to a Tuesday (6), Wednesday (3), Thursday (6) run schedule and I'm going to start working on building that Wednesday run again. Other plans for the fall and winter are to work more on strength training and building more muscle. In all the pictures from the marathon my legs look too skinny!

Not sure yet what's up for this weekend. I do know that I'm not planning on tapering for Portland, so hopefully I'll be able to manage at least one long-ish run. With Portland and Autumn Leaves on the horizon, I originally thought I'd focus on some road running. But Timberline showed me that I've lost some of my trail running skills. To my surprise, my arms were really sore. So hopefully I can hit the trails this weekend.

Happy Running!

Hey, skinny legs! I am jealous! :) I usually get a spark back after a race as well, what TM provided plenty of. I'll stop by this weekend for my pack, I also have a new bladder for you (taken out of my new Nathan pack - I don't use it anyway). I'll call you may be Friday night?

Sarah - I've noticed in your pictures that you've started wearing a running skirt. I assume that means you like them. What brands have you tried? I've wanted to try one, but the price has really put me off for now.

Now don't bulk up too much now. :) Not tapering huh, you really must have your mojo back. I guess I'll maybe see you there...that's if we do a carbload dinner party or something the evening before the big day.

Oh we do need to plan a meet. It doesn't have to be dinner...could be coffee in early afternoon if you'd rather. I need to get a count from the Y group so we can figure this out.

So glad you got your mojo back! Whoo-hoo!

Always feels great to be on the rebound, doesn't it? :-) Best of luck with the taper and Portland.

Yaaay, Sarah!

I'm jealous too, though, skinny isn't a word anywhere near my vocabulary. ;-)

congrats Sarah On getting that mojo back...Keep up the good efforts!!!

I feel I can use a shot of mojo, still not on my game yet...hopefully soon, cause I can use a few good weeks to build my confidence up going into JFK!

awww...those pictures look great. The photographer did a great job. Let's work on that smile though. Haha, I'm not one to talk, I'm not even smiling at all on the pictures from the Big Kahuna tri. Running is tough work!!!

I've been hitting the weights myself, lots of reps. My poor IT band needs the support of all the other muscles and the main culprit, the hamstring, needs to get stronger as well. I'm sorry I slacked on the weight training the last couple of years.

You're funny. I always worry about my "thunder thighs" and my legs that are so big now that it's harder and harder to find pants that fit. Hundreds of squats will do that to you... but it does help to prevent injuries.

I hope you made it out on the trails. I had to stick to the roads and paved trails, but at least I was able to run. Congrats on the 40 mile week!
