A blip in the schedule

I've returned from our nine day visit to Florida and I need to confess that while I was away I ran a grand total of 3.33 miles. Yep, I didn't even hit double digits, but the three 3's are kinda neat, huh? (And we ran it in 33.33 minutes...honest!) I expected to have a low mileage week, but I really didn't think it would be that low. Oh well, I had other things to do. We did participate in that endurance event called Walt Disney World, so I figure that's gotta count for something, right?

I'm really good at sticking to my routine. And even at home I'm fine with being flexible if I need to change up my schedule a bit, say run in the afternoon instead of the morning. I rarely skip a workout outright. But when I'm away from home and out of my routine, all bets are off. And I'm just not used to the Florida heat and humidity. I polished off a 20 oz bottle of sports drink in those three miles and that was at 7 am in the morning.

Good news is that I'm ready to jump back into the schedule and I'm looking forward to a big week. With five weeks to go until the PCT 50, I'll be able to fit in two solid weeks of training and then three weeks of a gradual taper. I'm on the home stretch now!

I ran in FL once and it was pure tropical. Not a good state to run in, unless you are used to it I guess.

Welcome back! I'm glad you enjoyed yourself - I agree, it's hard to get into a groove while traveling.

I was just thinking today while out for my run that I hadn't read another from Sarah in awhile. Now I know why.

Doesn't visiting FL make you appreciate the PNW all the more.

You should make the Sauvie Island marathon part of your training on July 4th. Rick, Pete and I are running it. I think I may join you at PCT and do the 50 miler instead of the 50K.
At least you got some good strength training in at Mouse World. Standing in line for an hour to get on a 3 minute ride! Oh the fun!

Welcome home! Hope the trip was fun. WDW should count for some endurance - I spent yesterday at a much smaller park and did more walking than usual. Travel messes us up; good luck getting back on track.

that must have been a blast...i bet WDW is much like any other endurance event. i have more trouble with time on my feet at those events than when training/racing. glad to have you back and look forward to following the training as you lead up to the Fifty.

Only Bob likes to run in Florida, hahaha, he loves that heat. Welcome back. Yeah you're just like me when on vacation. I've gotten better the last couple of years but not a whole lot better. Must have been good rest though. Easy ramping back up again.

Good to hear you had a nice trip. Totally understand, for some reason it's always a challenge to get in your run on a trip.

I don't do well out of town and my routine either. Disney World should be considered cross training.

3.33? That's only half evil. :-)

I'm going away in about a week and a half and I don't know how much running I'll be able to get in. Reading your post makes me feel much more acceptable. :-)

Welcome home.

Welcome back! Very nice with the plethora of 3's in your run...I'd take that as a good sign. I'm sure your body appreciated the low key week to recuperate from all your training and will be better than ever :)
