I decided to put my money where my feet are (so to speak) and finally joined the non-profit organization that serves Forest Park. Every weekend I see work parties out maintaining the trails in Forest Park. And every weekend I feel guiltier and guiltier that I'm enjoying all the wonders that the park has to offer and I haven't been giving anything back. This was hit home even more as I've witnessed the quick removal of the big trees that have blown down across the trails during the past few wind storms.
While I'd love to be able to get out on the trails and help the work parties (well, truthfully, not really), I know that its unlikely I'll make that effort. So instead, I made my little contribution to the cause. If you haven't already, I encourage all you trail runners and nature lovers to do the same in your own community. Happy trails!
