I've mailed in my registration for the Hagg Lake 50k in February. So my race schedule for 2007 is starting to feel more real. The best news is that my main running buddy, Sharon, has registered for the 50k too. She's comforted by the fact that its a two loop course and she can bail if necessary after the first loop. But the word quit is not in her vocabulary. So barring disaster, I'm confident she'll complete the 50k (as I am that I will too!).
My goal race for 2007 is the PCT Mt. Hood 50 mile in July. My 50k there this year was my first trail race and first ultra. I knew then and there I'd found my comfort zone. From an ultra newby perspective it will be a challenge. But I understand that as 50 milers go, its relatively easy. So, aside from the fact that its local, I think its a good choice for a first 50 miler. I can see a lot of hill training in my future this spring.
I'm finally back to running 5 days a week and averaging 30 mpw. I'd like to be up to 40 mpw by January and then slowly push it up to 50 mpw. That would be a new high for me. We'll see if these old bones can take it. But I don't think I can reach my potential on anything less.

Yeah, you're both going for the 50k that will be fun together.
Eric is considering Hagg Lake - I think if he signs up, I'll sign up for one loop. I've got to ease into this trail thing you know!
I'm glad to hear you are climbing that mileage and feeling good. A 50 miler is a wonderful goal!
Hi Sarah, Thanks for Food Input!!
Wow Looks like a good Year for ya from a 50k to a 50 mile WAY TO GO!!!
Bob
Nice. I hope the training goes well for the 50-miler. Those "old" bones are stronger than they were last year I'm sure if you ramp up slowly you'll be okay.
Hey there, Hagg is nice...who knows, may be I'll come too, but for now it feels that twice was enough. It's a big year-start party though!
Congrats on your first 2007 race sign up! (even though it's not Twin Peaks. sob sob.) hehe... looks fun!
wSo glad you are ramping up, painlessly, Sarah...very cool!!
I am hoping to sign up for Hagg Lake soon as well. I did not run it last year and I am ready to take on the course again. I was defeated last time as Olga knows since she went ahead of me the last 10 miles or so. Not that that was uncommon, but I was hoping to hang with her. I think you will do great with the increased training for the PCT 50.
it'll likely be fun for you to go back to Hagg Lake where it all started for you.
Great, now your tentative schedule is becoming less tentative = ) Very happy to hear your back on the trails and going strong! Best wishes for continued success!
awww...we would love to have you at Firetrails too. Maybe your 2nd 50M for next year?
good luck good luck good luck in your training for the 50 miler!!!
Very cool! By the time 2007 starts, you'll be well on the way to reaching that potential!
