10 days, 18 hours, 14 minutes, 8 seconds

10 days, 18 hours, 14 minutes, 8 seconds translates into 1440.3 miles, which is my mileage for 2006. I didn't have a specific goal for the year, but would have liked to hit 1500. That would have happened if I hadn't been sidelined with ITB problems for a month after the Portland Marathon. But its an improvement over last year's total of 1122, so I'm happy with that. I'm not making any predictions for 2007, but 2000 miles would be nice.

The other numbers from my Cool Running log are:

Strength training - lower body: 11 hours, 45 minutes
Strength training - upper body: 10 hours, 10 minutes
Strength training - abs: 13 hours, 5 minutes
Yoga: 2 hours, 50 minutes

It looks like I could stand to do some more yoga! What I don't record is the time I spend stretching, walking and hiking.

Yesterday morning, I ran 12 miles on the roads around the neighborhood. Then after lounging around for a few hours we got the bug to head to the gorge. We arrived at the Angel's Rest trailhead at about 1:30. It had been sunny in Portland, but was cloudy, cold and very windy in the gorge. We bundled up and started up the steep 2 mile trail. Considering the weather, I was really surprised at how many people were out on the trail. But Oregonians love the outdoors. It was a bit freaky near the exposed top. The wind was really blowing and there were some downed trees across the path. We couldn't tell if they were recent falls or from the wind storm few weeks ago. Either way, I was glad to get through that area quickly! We stopped at the top only briefly for a few snacks and then headed back down. It was an exhilarating workout!
Do we look cold? Brrr
