I took a page from Matt's book and created my own run this morning...the 1st annual Independence Day Wildwood 16.67K. No t-shirt but I did break in a new pair of shorts and my new Montrail's. I hadn't run on this section of Wildwood before and was using this run as a bit of a scouting trip for an upcoming 20+ miler. I fell once, but it was a clean body plant and the only damage is a slight scrape to my forearm.
It was nice to get in a longer run on the weekday. I only saw one other person right near the beginning and then didn't start seeing more people until I had about 1.6K to go until I reached my car. So I had a lot of time to think and meditate about running and life and the things that are important to me. I'd like to blog about some of those things but that will have to wait until another post.
Happy 4th of July!
P.S. Isn't it ironic that Blogger's spell check doesn't recognize blog as a word?

Sounds like a great way to celebrate-Happy 4th!
Time when you can run and think about life and what's important to you is highly underrated. Sounds like your doing some amazing running! I wish I had trails so easily accesible.
I think those are the best workouts, when you are alone and can really get lost in your thoughts. Sounds like a great run.
Take care!
IDW 16.67k sounds like a fun event! I love getting new gear! I have to get a new pair of trail runners..My New Balance heel is peeling off and I just bought them!
Happy Trails
You touched on one of the best parts of running in nature. I can’t think of a better time to solve any problems and make plans for the future. Are you going to do a 2nd annual race? I can make you a t-shirt :)
The Wildwood trail is awesome. I have run the entire length, but only once so I don't know what is what and where goes to where. I would love to be able to explore and get to know the trail a little better. There is a free 50K, the entire length of the trail, so I guess 30.2 miles, that is run on New Years eve morning every year. I hope to run it again this year.
Sounds like a good run. Can't wait to read about those thoughts rolling around in your head.
