As I was logging my run yesterday, I couldn't help but notice that I've run 900.2 miles so far this year. Wow! I had to do a doubletake. Last year my total was only 1122 for the whole year.
As intended, I ran 12 miles (2 hrs) to get in my 31 miles for the weekend (41 miles for the week). I went back up to Leif Erikson, where I had my bonk a week ago. It was warm but not as hot as last week. I've decided that this is a great route for a 12 miler, but I doubt I'll want to go further on an out and back on Leif in a long time. There are just too many other interesting options in Forest Park that I need to explore.
However, I think 12 miles out and back make for a great recovery run. Going out you climb most of the way with a few rolling hills and flat areas. On the way back you can really fly and it makes for good downhill training on tired legs.
I'm ready for a taper now, both physically and mentally. I'll play it by ear for the next two weeks, but I doubt I'll run longer than 10 or 12.

Leaf is good for recover, also try starting at Aspen and going to WW up to 11M mark - relatively flat and slight up, but on the way back it's declines and finishes with 0.6M downhill.
Sarah, thanks for stopping by. I will be looking forward to reading about PCT. Sounds like a fun (in a crazed ultrarunner sort of way!)
How cool to see that much mileage - I actually had to take a pen and figure out the weekly and monthly averages it came out to. Great job! I'm still laughing at the potato chip noise I read in your previous post.
