The official results were about the same as the unofficial so no surprises there.  I was most interested in seeing my splits. Tomorrow I leave for Arizona. Across the Years starts for me this Friday at 9am.  Weather looks ideal, if a bit warm in the day.  Sunny with highs in the low-70's and lows in the high 40's.  So barring any last minute weather changes, we'll be spared the torrential downpour (which I missed the first day) and the frigid 20 degree nights from last year.

it for a few months and finally decided to register for it after McKenzie when I realized it would be a good last training run for Autumn Leaves.  Actually, I thought it was going to be flatter than it was.  But despite the hills it was still fairly runnable.

At the Haulin' Aspen Marathon this past Sunday, I not only got third in my age group (and again, there were more than three of us!), but I also put down a new trail marathon PR by four minutes: 5:02:12.   That really surprised me!

This  relay consists of an alpine ski and a nordic ski on Mt.  Bachelor, a  cycle to Bend, a 5 mile (mostly) trail run, a paddle in the  Deschutes  river and a half mile sprint to the finish. This brings my combined marathon and ultra total to 22.   Considering that this was a hilly course with a nasty headwind in spots, and my weekly mileage has averaged only 26 miles this year, I'm very happy with my time of 4:34:28. Not bad considering that his last long run was the Haulin' Aspen Marathon last August.
