My hunch that I'd need a three week taper instead of two was on the mark. This week I've been tired. No, tired isn't quite right. Sleepy. I've been hitting the snooze button, which I rarely do. I've been yawning as I wait for my running partners to tie their shoes at 5:45 am. I skipped my Wednesday morning run. The runs I have done have been fine. I'm not particularly sore. My legs don't feel tired. But I'm missing my spark, my energy, my get up and go. And I'm sleepy.
So I'm officially tapering. Last week was my peak week at 42 miles. My previous peaking week for PCT was a bit higher at around 46. But I'm okay with 42. This week should be somewhere in the 30's. I've only run 11 so far this week so I'd like to get in at least 12/10 this weekend. Or maybe 14/8.
Is it nap time yet?

oh gotta love the taper... (well not really) but it does mean your next race is getting close :)
yay for the taper! sounds like you are ready for it :)
Oh, the T-word. I'm not there yet, a few more weeks. I've never got to officially taper before, but I'm looking forward to it!
I'm all for a good nap. Very civilized things, naps.
Enjoy!
Enjoy the tapering and the rest. I often judge how my body is responding to training by the number of times I hit the snooze button. I think it works.
